Connect an AI agent

Swift Fox has an MCP server, so AI assistants that speak MCP can look at your network directly - devices, backhauls, CPEs, issues, metrics and config history - and help you work out what's going on.

It works with the same API keys as the REST API, and sees exactly the same operations as the API reference. You can ask things like which backhauls ran close to capacity last week, or what changed on a tower in the hour before an outage, and the agent will pull the data itself.

What you'll need

An API key (see Getting started) and an MCP client that can send a header with its requests. The server is at https://api.swiftfox.net/mcp.

A read-only key is the safest choice. A key with the actions scope also lets the agent run live pings and traceroutes from your pingboxes, and with pii it sees subscriber names on CPEs.

Claude Code

claude mcp add --transport http swiftfox https://api.swiftfox.net/mcp \
  --header "Authorization: Bearer sfk_your_key"

Cursor and other clients

Most clients take a JSON config like this one (in Cursor it goes in .cursor/mcp.json):

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "swiftfox": {
      "url": "https://api.swiftfox.net/mcp",
      "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer sfk_your_key" }
    }
  }
}

Chat apps like Claude.ai and ChatGPT connect with a sign-in rather than a key, and aren't supported yet.
