Swift Fox vs Splynx
Splynx is a capable, well-priced billing and CRM platform for ISPs, with a very complete billing engine, a built-in RADIUS server, TR-069 and accounting add-ons, and customers running everything from fixed wireless to fibre and LTE. Swift Fox comes at the problem from the network side, as a monitoring and automation platform that grew billing tools rather than the reverse. This page lays out what that means in practice, including how the two work together, since Swift Fox syncs directly with Splynx. If we get a fact wrong, tell us and we'll fix it.
Choose Splynx if…
Your biggest needs are on the billing and CRM side and you want them at the lowest per-subscriber cost: RADIUS and PPPoE authentication, FUP and data caps, TR-069 CPE management, hotspot vouchers, accounting integrations, and provisioning for fibre or LTE alongside fixed wireless. Splynx does all of that in one system, with SNMP monitoring included.
Choose Swift Fox if…
You want the network layer: monitoring that reads signal and capacity from your radios, paging with on-call rotations, built-in QoE shaping, MPLS auto-balancing, DDoS protection, and CGNAT. Run it beside Splynx billing through the sync, or add our billing and hosted call centre on top if you'd rather have one vendor.
Billing-first vs. network-first
Splynx started from billing. It's based in Prague, it's used by ISPs in a lot of countries, and its billing engine is very complete: recurring invoicing, a long list of payment gateways, a built-in RADIUS server for PPPoE and DHCP authentication, MikroTik API integration for speed limits, FUP and data-cap automation, hotspot vouchers, a customer portal with mobile apps, and add-ons for TR-069, Huawei GPON, and accounting packages like QuickBooks, Xero, NetSuite, and Zoho Books. It also includes network monitoring of the SNMP and ping variety, with graphs for any OID, SNMP traps, email and SMS alerts, a weathermap, and config backups.
Swift Fox started from the network side. It was built to run our own WISP: radio-level monitoring across every vendor, per-minute ping history on every customer radio, backhaul capacity measurement, MPLS traffic balancing, and fq_codel shaping. Billing, a customer portal, and a hosted call centre were added on top later, so a billing event can drive a network action without any glue between vendors (an unpaid invoice becomes a captive-portal disconnect, and a payment becomes a reconnect).
The practical split is that on billing depth and price, Splynx is ahead, and on the network, Swift Fox does a lot of things Splynx doesn't do at all: signal and MCS from the radios, live backhaul capacity, on-call paging, QoE shaping without a separate box, MPLS auto-balancing, DDoS blackholing, and CGNAT management. Splynx's own answer to QoE is a LibreQoS or Preseem integration, which means a second inline system to buy, size, and maintain.
Support is worth knowing about too. Splynx support is by ticket on Central European hours (Monday to Friday 04:00–22:00 CET, and 08:00–17:00 CET on weekends), which is mid-afternoon in North America on weekdays and mid-morning on weekends, and hands-on help beyond the included two hours is $70 an hour. Our support is direct, from an engineer who has run a WISP, and onboarding includes two hours with one of us.

Keep Splynx and add the network layer
For most Splynx shops this is the setup we'd suggest. Splynx is inexpensive and does its job well, billing migrations are painful (we've done them), and everything Splynx is missing is on the network side. Swift Fox syncs with Splynx directly, so billing and CRM stay exactly where they are and the network layer goes in beside them.
How the Splynx sync works
Create a read-only API key in Splynx with three view permissions (Tariff Plans › Internet, Customers › Customer, Customers › Customer Internet services) and paste it into Swift Fox. We poll it every five minutes and never write anything back.
Add your towers and backhauls to the Swift Fox network map. This is the one manual step, and onboarding covers it. Customer radios are matched to their Splynx service by MAC address automatically.
Every synced customer gets per-minute monitoring with paging, fq_codel shaping to the speeds on their Splynx tariff (with PFO fairness on saturated links), and captive-portal disconnects that follow their Splynx status. Block a customer in Splynx and they land on the portal within five minutes; reactivate them and they're back on.
Balances stay in Splynx. Customers pay through the Splynx portal the same as they do today, Splynx changes their status, and Swift Fox follows it. If you later decide to consolidate onto Swift Fox billing, you can do that on your own schedule, with our help.
At 1,000 subscribers, Splynx (about $550 / mo) plus the Swift Fox Network Management tier ($750 / mo) comes to roughly $1,300 / mo for billing, CRM, monitoring, paging, QoE shaping, MPLS balancing, DDoS protection and CGNAT. Splynx plus a Preseem appliance is about $1,450 / mo, and that covers shaping only.
